Tell your legislators what’s at stake if we don’t Close the Coverage Gap
Amanda proudly served her country in the Army for six years. She answered the call when her country needed her, but where was North Carolina when Amanda’s mom, Toni, fell into the coverage gap?
Toni was already suffering from Hashimoto’s Disease when she was diagnosed with cancer. Soon after her diagnosis Toni lost her job and her insurance. Because she doesn’t have a disability or dependent children, she didn’t qualify for Medicaid.
Let’s honor our promise to our veterans and make sure they and their loved ones have health coverage that doesn’t leave them saddled with debt. Do you have two minutes to email Amanda’s video to your representative?
As our state budget negotiations get underway, it is important that we keep Medicaid expansion and the families who are impacted at the center of these conversations. Sharing Amanda and Toni’s story will remind our lawmakers that the decisions they make in Raleigh have real life consequences for families across North Carolina.
