Tell your Senator and Representative to support legislation to fix North Carolina’s unemployment system
North Carolina lawmakers have introduced legislation that addresses two major problems with our state unemployment system: the short duration and inadequate benefits cap. If enacted, SB 320/HB 331 will ensure people who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own have support to withstand the harmful impacts of this pandemic.
We need the NC General Assembly to pass this legislation NOW and bring much-needed change to our state’s Unemployment Insurance system.
The rules around state UI have made the program less effective during this pandemic because it provides too little for too few weeks to too few North Carolinians. The new bill would:
Call on your North Carolina Representative and Senator to act now! Tell them to pass SB 320/HB 331 and help reform the state UI system by increasing the amount of weekly benefits and the duration of benefits for jobless workers.
